Treasure behind trapdoors: An all-in-one solution that creates valuable living space
Limited natural resources and the increasing demand for more sustainable solutions forces architects to rethink future houses and city planning. Greenhouses bloom on skyscrapers in cities like New York. Europe’s biggest urban farm in The Hague even has a 900 sq. m large fish farm underneath its 1200 sq. m rooftop greenhouse. And with micro-housing getting more and more popular, trend researchers predict smaller apartments moving common rooms such as laundry, gyms and swimming pools in the basement.
So, there’s treasure to find behind trapdoors. But what to do with combined heat and power plants (CHPs) that usually are placed in a building’s basement? There’s an alternative. An all-in-one power house that creates additional floor space. EC POWER now offers a fully equipped, made-to-order external power house giving architects the opportunity to see floor and living space in a new light. The EC POWER HOUSE can be fully customised depending on the building’s heat and power needs. Most often several components such as one or more Mini-CHP(s), heat pumps, boiler and storage tanks are installed. To meet visual appearance and overall look, personalised exterior and interior facades are available, ranging from stone to wood or aluzinc.
